After going from Lexington to Chicago, we left for Delhi India Monday night (US time) and landed in India around 9pm (India time). We flew out of Lexington to Chicago where we had a 5hr layover before heading to India. Our flight gate in Chicago going to India was L 8. I thought...Even I can remember that. I drink 2-3 of those every day :)
We bordered our Boeing 777 Jet as we prepared for a 15 hr non stop flight. Thankfully the flight was uneventful, just very long. The plane was really big, but not overly spacious for that kind of time. Jeni got a little sleep on the plane (3-5 hrs). I might have slept for 1hr.
When we arrived, we went thru customs with ease and then step into Dehli India for the first time. I thought I was ready for what I would experience next, but until you are here I'm not sure anything can prepare you. When we stepped outside the airport it was absolute CHAOSE! People everywhere. Cars (including motorcycles and rick shaws) everywhere. Horns honking non-stop. People jocking for the right to push your luggage. It was crazy. When we found our driver three men followed the guy pushing my luggage and helped throw it on the roof of the car. Then of course they wanted compensated. I wasn't ready for so many people to be in my face like that. It was nutts!
However, the fun was just about to begin.I had often wondered where they filmed the stunt scenes for car chases in the movies. That's not something I wonder about anymore. Our ride from the airport to the hotel was like something out of the movies. You thought 16 year old drivers were bad. Visit India! Vehicles were constantly weaving in and out, cutting each other off, flying through intersections, non-stop on the horn.I bet we scraped paint with other vehicles 3 times :)I could go on and on about the driving.
We finally arrived at our hotel around 10pm (India time). When we first saw our hotel we weren't too sure about it, but it turned out ok. I'm typing this from our hotel room for a later post tomorrow from Bangalore. It's 3:30am (India time) and Jeni and I are wide awake. I've slept a little here, but Jeni hasn't slept any since arriving. Thankfully we will have two days to recover before getting Macy. We are going to need every bit of it. It's going to be a wild ride. Keep us in your prayers!!

I check a few times a day to see what's happening! I'm so glad you arrived...safely...after your taxi experience maybe that's too loose of a term!
We love you and we're praying for a smooth trip and easy transition.
Becky
Well, what a relief ... I agree with Becky, "I'm so glad you arrived ...safely". Maybe we should send Karen Gullett over there to do some driver training (HA)! Any who, still can't wait to see pictures and, especially, getting Macy, in the near future, in God's Little Lamb's Handbell Choir'. Be SAFE!
